Hi..

I bought FFXI for XP and installed on my computers.

I was able to registered on line with POL and get on the FF XI page. (no problem)

My problem is that I could not run the FFXI config. EXE ...It doesnt work. I always get an error message. I tried to installed it 3 times already and the same thing happen

When I tried to start FF XI on the POL server. The error message is HardwardHnL

Anybody know what is the problem. Please help me...

I believe it's your video card. There are some possibilities:

1) Video card driver not installed correctly
2) Video card doesn't have hardware 3D acceleration
3) Video card is not supported by FFXI

Maybe you can tell us a little bit more about your system specification, then we can go from there. ^_^

There you go, Intel Video. It doesn't have hardware acceleration so that FFXI cannot be started.

In order to play FFXI, you MUST have hardware acceleration.

A very bad news I have to tell you, from my understanding, HS series doesn't have AGP slot... So you cannot buy add additional AGP video card on your system.....

I am not sure if there is any other way to solve your problem... >_<

well, unfortunately, I really have no idea... Nowadays, video cards are all AGP format but your PC only has PCI slots... So I am afraid to tell you that there might not be any good solutions besides buying a new PC...

this is the solution I came out with. Hope there are someone else who can give you further help. Once again, sorry...

I guess I can use my brother computer for now.

IF his computer is a Pentium 3 with 513ram and a good Gforce FX 4 Graphic card.

Do you think it is ok?

個人不建議使用時脈較低的CPU去搭 效能不錯的顯示卡
因為這樣顯示卡會被CPU的速度給拖累

效果反而不好，所以有可能的話，去買一張有AGP插槽的MB還比較實在些

Aced, 他原來的電腦是套裝電腦, 所以沒得換主機板...

而他說他兄弟那台, 就試試看吧. Aced之所以不如此建議, 是因為他自己本身最開始就是這樣. 效果並不是很好.

Anyway, it's worth a try. ^_^

Not just for FFXI, but for other 3D games also. The most popular GeForce 4 series will do great.

This product line has a very wide range of choice, how much budget do you have?

I would personally recommend Geforce4 4600 8X with 64MB or 128MB, which is around NT5000 now.

If you are willing to pay more, GeForce FX series is the highest class of all GF series...

Sorry that i intsert to the topic ^^;

because i have changed the cpu & mainboard recently. My computer is very unstable, when play FFXI, it will jump back from game to window screen , it make me feel bad to find pt... as i am a whm... if my pt fight a totetote mon.... ^^;

any suggetion to me? thanks ^^

my computer congfig:

Display card: ATI 8500 (DDR 64m)
Ram: 512m DDR
Power supply: 2the max HE370

before i suspect the power now enough or over heat, so added power supply and 2 fan in the computer, but the situaion still goes on TT, nearly every time are jump out from game, not normal logout TT

Tks! Hmm.....so for FX 11, I will probably get an Geforce4 4600 8X card then but would you recommend 64MB or 128MB? Because there seems to be a hugh price gap difference between the two...

Offically, the min. is 32mb but is there a hugh difference between 64mb and 128 mb. Which one would you get?

Firstly, since you will install this video card onto your bro's system which is a P3 system, AGP 8X wouldn't do you any better (sorry I totally forgot about this). So maybe you can go for cheaper models.

As for memory size, up until now I don't still see why video cards need such a hugh memory nowadays. It wouldn't boost the speed much at all. It is so-called 趨勢 ba... XD Simply go for 64 (32 is out dated XD), 128MB is totally un-necessary.

To me, video memory is only for resolution output. The more the memory, the higher color and higher resolution you can output, that's it.

nVidia has a variety of GeForce series video cards, you would have to study more about the differences between them. I haven't really looked into this for such a long time, so... I am afraid I couldn't give you a very precise recommendation...

To Jin-Ron:

I strongly recommend you to take it to a system-pro (which I am not XD) to have your system examined. I don't know which mainboard that is, but I use the same video card as you and I don't have the same problem... Sorry that I couldn't give you further help... >_< Try what Aced said ba...

I am using the newest driver which can be downloaded from official ATI website.

As for the configuration, I turn everything to the highest except the background which is set to 512 X 512.

3DMap and etc, I checked all checkboxes... XD
