Hi. I’m new to here and i have a question:
is it true that u need original FFXI DVD to play FFXI online. I really want to know this because my PS2 is a PAL version and cannot play original PS2 DVD game come from Japan. ToT

About this question, I am afraid that I don't have enough knowledge to answer you since I have never used a "non-original" FFXI DVD to try. However, for sure that you need a set of serial numbers which comes with original FFXI DVD for registration.
There is another question to your situation: where is your PS2 from? Europe? Because PS2 HDD unit currently only works on Japanese PS2, without PS2 HDD working, you will not be able to play FFXI either...
The best solution will be: Buy Japanese version of PS2, PS2 HDD, and FFXI disc set with comes with a set of serial numbers.

I also don't know which country my PS2 is from. I bought it in Malaysia and it is modified to play both pirated and original game. The game that i can play include pirated US game, pirated japanese game, original Europe game and original US game. Looks like I have to play the US version FFXI next year.

Let's make this faster, can you please check the back of your PS2 and tell me the exact model number? I will then be able to tell you whether your machine is from Japan or not.
As long as you modify your PS2, you will be able to play games from any country. That's guaranteed! ^^

現在只有幾種PS2可以裝硬碟,也就是只有這幾型的PS2才可以玩FFXI
10000型15000型30000型35000型,如果不是
那請買這幾種型號的PS2
